Postcards from the Head to the Heart is a series of graphite drawings that emerges from a personal photographic archive. In the studio, I select moments and scenes from the photographs and translate them into hand-drawn images on paper. Alongside each drawing appears a line from a song, translated into German and handwritten. German enters the work as another material, not merely as a literal translation, but as a way of introducing a different feeling, rhythm, and distance from the original.
The drawings are gathered into books in a postcard-like format, allowing each image to exist as an individual unit while also becoming part of a sequence. The books are displayed on music stands, making the act of browsing and looking part of the work. The installation creates a kind of personal archive of images, texts, and memories, moving between a physical place and an inner one.
